Case Study: ESPN
ESPN: The Saban Stamp
Scope: Film a segment featuring Arkansas State head coach Butch Jones, a former assistant coach of Nick Saban for an ESPN Gameday story piece
Hurdles: Hire a camera and audio crew, rent equipment, and get to Arkansas State University campus to meet up with ESPN’s Gene Wojciechowski for an interview session and capture B-Roll with coach Jones… and I had 18 hours to do it!

Results: With just hours before making the six hour drive from Nashville to Jonesboro, Arkansas I was able to finalize a 3 man crew (one of them being myself since I couldn’t find a 2nd camera operator). We loaded up in our minivan was able to meet up with Gene, do the interview with coach Jones and even had 45 minutes with him for some extra b-roll.
Much about filmmaking is problem solving and a great asset to have is a large network of professionals you can call on, even when the job is in less than 24 hours!
